Making Wishes Known

Creating an advance directive involves more than just creating a document. To improve the chances that your wishes will be followed when the time comes, you need to:

  • THINK about what you want and don't want and who you would like to speak for you when you are seriously ill.
  • TALK to your health care proxy, other people who are important to you, and to your medical team. Make sure they all know what you want before you are in a life-threatening situation.
